Muhammad Babar Sarfraz is a LUMS National Outreach Programme (NOP) scholar, majoring in Management Science from the BSc Class of 2016. He lives with his mother and three elder brothers. Babar’s brothers are still studying. His father was a government officer at PASCO, who passed away when Babar was 3 years old. His mother has raised his brothers and him alone since then.
Babar explained how he discovered the NOP at LUMS, “I heard about the LUMS National Outreach Programme through one of the NOP graduates. The excellent education and an atmosphere filled with opportunities is what motivated me to apply to LUMS through this programme. Another factor was that LUMS brings the best out of people.”
“I got my acceptance letter from LUMS the same day I had my last FSc exam, so it was a big relief for me and my family. My family always believed in me and somehow believed that I would make it but I was not sure whether I would be able to meet their expectations or not. When I got the acceptance letter my family was even more thrilled than I was! I was the first one from my whole family to come to such a prestigious university like LUMS and that was an achievement for my family. I would never have been able to attend LUMS if it wasn’t for the National Outreach Programme,” said Babar.
