Student Financial Support
LUMS seeks the support of socially responsible individuals and corporate entities to help with its mission of providing quality education to all regardless of ability to pay. We firmly believe that high quality education should be available to all who have talent and gain admission to the university on the basis of merit alone. With your cooperation we can achieve a sustainable impact on the lives of these students from underprivileged communities.
LUMS prides itself on being an institution where merit is all that matters and where a need-blind admission policy is rigorously implemented. It is crucial to give hope to these bright, gifted students so that they may study in a world-class environment to fulfil their dreams. LUMS provides generous financial assistance to students whose means do not allow them to provide for their education.
Since inception LUMS has disbursed more than PKR 2.7 billion as financial assistance, and currently more than 25% of the student body receives some form of financial aid. For the 2014/15 academic year more than PKR 450 million was disbursed by LUMS as financial aid; an amount that increases each year.
LUMS launched its National Outreach Programme (NOP) in 2001 to seek out talented students from all corners of the country, and extend to them the benefits of a world-class education. To become a truly national university it was felt that additional efforts are required to identify students with exceptional Matriculation and FA/FSc results, who do not have the means to support themselves and pursue higher education. Under this programme we inform them about LUMS, guide and facilitate them to apply to the university and help them cross barriers that they themselves or society has placed in their path to progress.
The scholars that qualify as NOP students are given full financial assistance covering tuition, board, lodging, travel, books and living. LUMS is very proud of its NOP scholars who have over the years continued to bring laurels to this institution.
Excellence has defined LUMS since its inception 30 years ago. We seek the best and the brightest and aim to provide them an environment where they can succeed and demonstrate their potential. The LUMS merit scholarship scheme recognises the outstanding academic achievements of students during their stay at LUMS and offers 100% tuition waiver, 60% tuition waiver and 30% tuition waiver to students in each discipline who achieve the 1, 2 and 3 position respectively. These scholarships demonstrate LUMS’ commitment to excellence and support for those that have demonstrated it.
